Free Responses:
When our tutors were asked the following questions, this is how they responded:
- Hobbies:
- I like to swim, bike, run (triathlete), travel and learn about different cultures.
Why do you want to be a tutor?
- I am actively pursing a chance to tutor high school students because I will be pursuing a career as a high school physics teacher at UC Berkeley next year. I'd like to increase my experience with this age group and help students increase their skills in math and physics.
Why should a student pick you?
- I make learning fun! I also am an active volunteer at Balboa High School (in San Francisco) tutoring in a physics class. Here, I get in depth knowledge about what teachers look for in homework standards and test preparation. Lastly, I will be a good tutor for your student because I have worked with Girl Scouts for 8 years teaching them about science and engineering. Here, I was a motivator to do science experiments like making lipgloss, building radios or tie dying their socks!
Personal Statement:
- I have had many great experiences in life including graduating with an above 3.0 GPA from UC Davis' School of Engineering and working on a space telescope (James Webb Space Telescope). Although I am young, I believe I have a lot to offer the young and old with my positive spirit and enthusiasm for learning. I am a strong role model for my younger brother and friends often look for me for advice and tutoring.
